All approaches, both oriental and Western, have their strengths and weaknesses. However, together they make possible a dietetics that is both preventive as well as curative, guarding human beings as well as their environment. The combination produces sparkling new insights and an effective therapy rooted in our current cultural situation. Points of departure for a vital food vision are:

Food influences the constitution, daily energy and the psyche. And in reverse our constitution, condition en psyche determine how we choose and digest our food.

  • Every person is unique and has a unique digestive system that requires an individual approach. For an important part the individual digestion capacity determines what food does for us: "you are what you can digest". In addition to bad food choice and food quality, insufficient food digestion is a major cause of most contemporary pathology.
  • Energetic descriptions give a systematic account, explaining why certain nutrition contributes to particular illnesses in some people. They also highlight the disadvantages of certain food choices on short and long term. (F. Ramakers, 1992)
  • Only fresh, pure, whole and varied food prepared in a correct manner has vitality. Only vital food is able to prevent the premature exhaustion of people and environment.
  • By means of nutrition people can work on their healing process by themselves.
  • In cases of illness, adapting food is one of the first therapies to be put forward.
