Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment in which very thin needles are nearly painlessly inserted at specific defined points. In this way the flow of energy in the body can be influenced and blockages can be removed. The Qi or Life Energy, which flows in the meridians, is influenced in a positive way. Illness disturbs the energy balance. Trough the harmonising effect of acupuncture treatment the body is given a chance to recover by using its self healing capacity. Acupuncture is best known for the good results in pain relief. However, very many disorders can be effectively treated this way.

In addition to acupuncture, moxa and cupping are complementary techniques. In moxa therapy a conus or stick of the Artemisia herb is ignited on or above the desired acupuncture points for stimulation. To do this the herb can be applied on an acupuncture needle, or held at a certain distance above the skin or placed on an isolating disc and very rarely directly on the skin. Moxa is particularly used in “Cold” conditions. As for cupping, cups are put on the skin with the intention of dissipating particularly “Cold” and “Heat” and to relieve “Blood stagnation” and pain.

Awareness of the cause of the complaint makes the client participate in the healing process by changing diet and lifestyle.
